The state of Kentucky’s made and appeal against to an appeal which entered a new phase on April, and the Supreme Court of Kentucky accepted the brief. Also The Bluegrass state also awaiting a decision from the Appeal court of Kentucky and it has overturned the permit given by the lower court in respect of international gambling domain name.

The interactive media entertainment & the gaming association obtained a successful appeal against the seizure order and now they have to submit response briefs to the Kentucky Supreme Court before June 1st ‘2009.

The reason for these appeals and other activity is that some of these casino gambling sites not adhere to the standards. That means some times the youngsters & students also had participated in these gambling in secret way.

So as a result of this situation, the revenue of the gambling will be cutting down in to its legislated formats. So that means there will be some kind of international standard will be there for the gambling sites and the unregulated sites will disappear. According to the statics which considered here, they have identified more than 2,500 unregulated gambling sites including horse racing, poker, betting exchange and much more.

Also they have noted that the party gaming co-founder has settled $ 300 million to U.S government in 2008, December.

Anyhow the Supreme Court foe Kentucky has to analyze all the points given by the two parties and make a final decision by the 1st June 2009. And the both parties has to stay calm till the court order released and they are keep working on their brief as they needs to be submitted before 1st June 2009.

If you had the pleasure to attend this year’s Casino Affiliate Conference in Amsterdam, you would have surely recognized the heavy presence of the Microgaming software brand on the exhibition floor. For those who were not in attendance, let’s just say that Microgaming was the subject of many an affiliate conversation - and continues to be on the leading online casino portals and internet betting news/information sites.

There is no denying the fact that Microgaming is one of the pioneer software developers, having powered some of the very first and most successful online casinos and poker rooms since the nineties. Over the years, Microgaming has received numerous “Best Software” awards from online journals, magazines and other respected industry bodies.

And God knows what the bulk of U.S. online gamblers would have done if Microgaming decided to back out of the U.S. market at the same time as Playtech and Cryptologic. It certainly would have been a huge mess. My point is that Microgaming certainly deserves some credit for hanging in there as long as they did.

And now to my other point: As much respect and credit Microgaming has with players and the online gaming sector at large, including the thousands of affiliates who promote and play at their online casino licensees, the unanimous sentiment with affiliates and players is that Microgaming still needs to do some serious damage control regarding the Grand Prive debacle if they want to keep their golden reputation, if you will.

For all you players who didn’t hear already and who therefore have not been affected by these events, Grand Prive was a licensed group of online casinos who went bankrupt shortly after Microgaming pulled out of the U.S. market. That, in turn, has resulted in many players being left in the dark and owed their due finances. And thus far, Microgaming hasn’t stepped in like they did before to help these players get paid out. Once again, another case for regulation in the U.S. - but that’s another story.

So, while Microgaming isn’t directly responsible for the failures of the Grand Prive group of online casinos (although Grand Prive might beg to differ), considering their status in the gaming industry (which is essentially at the top of the food chain), not to mention their financial stability, pressure is definitely mounting on Microgaming to rectify the matter and pay these players their rightful earnings. The ball is in your court, Microgaming.

The Tropicana Express is neither the busiest nor the biggest poker room in Laughlin. That distinction goes to a casino right across the street, the Colorado Belle. But if the Tropicana comes in at number two in those categories; it is in first place in one important way. It’s the Laughlin poker room with the best sense of humor.

The staff of this poker room started making jokes and cracking wise as soon as I arrived. When I took out a couple of hundred dollar bills to buy into the game, the dealer asked if I wanted to buy the room or just buy into their $2-6 spread limit
PaddyPower Poker
hold’em game. When I asked about tableside food service, I was asked, with a smile, if I wanted to eat or play. When I spoke to the floor and asked about some of the rules, the rake, and the like, I was told that they had a strict English-only rule (as if my slight Eastern accent were not allowed). Yuk, yuk, yuk!

The ambiance is simple and understated. There is off-white acoustic tile on the ceiling, comfortable contoured chairs with rollers, high-quality (but not fancy) tables with built-in cup holders, and a large wall of glass that stretches the length of the six-table poker room. There are also four tournament tables. There is tableside eating, made easy with small service tables.

The room boasts many promotions. Earlybirds are treated to a free breakfast sandwich if they play between 8:00 and 9:00 in the morning. This assures a game when the room opens at 7:30 AM. High-hand promotions are generous: $25 for any player who gets quads, $150 for straight flushes, and $599 for any royals. Cracked aces get a spin of the wheel, with prizes from $20 to $500. And between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, there’s a promotion that may be unique to the Tropicana Express. Players are awarded a “chit” for each hand they win. At the end of each hour, the player with the most chits wins $50. That’s a big incentive for loose play, and a major enticement for players like me who want games with loose players!

I found the level of poker play, generally, to be very beatable. At my table, where I played for about three hours, there was one good player, two very tight and passive players, and five awful, drunk and fun-loving players just in the game to lose their money, which they cheerily did. This was on a Monday night. Weekend action may be even better. I’ll gladly return looking for a similar lineup.

The standard game is the $2-6 spread limit game that I played in. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday night there might be a $4/8 limit game or a $1/2 no-limit game, I was told by the poker room manager, though neither runs all the time. There’s a $30 tournament at 6:30 PM on Tuesday and Thursday, and a Saturday event at 2:00 PM. Cash games tend to go at least until midnight – and sometimes all night. Best to call ahead to check on the action if you’re planning on arriving after 11:00 PM. When I was there on a Monday night from 10:00 PM until about 1:00 AM there were two tables of $2-6 hold’em going.

The house rakes 10% up to a $3 maximum. They also drop $2 for the many promotions. Players earn $1.25 an hour with a Tropicana players club card. Drinks are free and food is very reasonably priced. Most sandwiches are in the $5 range. There’s also a steakhouse that got very high marks from all the players and staff. The menu is pricey – between $20 and $40 for a steak. I was assured it was well worth the money.

All in all. I really liked this room, in particular the festive mood created by the fun-loving staff. Most of all, I enjoyed the action from the loose players; they added to my bottom line. And that’s no laughing matter.

Here’s another argument for panning off poker as a game of sport (or should I say skill). It can be played outdoors! Sure, it makes sense to bring the tables out on the cabana when you’re playing in say - a Caribbean tropical paradise, which incidentally, is where many top poker tournaments take place. Yet, Leicester Square Park is no Caribbean paradise, and that’s precisely where Europe’s largest free poker tournament, aptly named “Poker in the Park” is going down for the third year in a row.

To be fair, Leicester Square Park certainly has a great deal of charm. And it certainly has the space to accommodate thousands of poker players thronging together in the marquees to get their poker game on. Last year, over 10,000 people showed up to Poker in the Park, and this year, event organizers - Bluff Europe - are expecting up to 25,000 over the course of August 13 and 14, 2009.

Not so much of a poker tournament, per say, Poker in the Park is more like a party. Besides the free poker games taking place, there are live lectures, free lessons, autograph signings with top pros, merchandise, and I would assume some really good beer on tap. Bluff Europe’s Editor in Chief, Michael Caselli, said it best by referring to Poker in the Park as a gathering of poker lovers and enthusiasts from all over Britain to sharpen their skills, meet their favorite professional players and even learn a thing or two from them.

The lineup of pros attending this year’s Poker in the Park has not been confirmed this early on. However, Bluff promises there will be some big names. Last year saw the likes of Devilfish, Neil Channing and Ian Frazer in attendance, while Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet (probably trying to do some damage recovery following the cheating scandals that took place in their online poker rooms), were there hosting a free “Poker Academy”, where players could sit in on free lectures.

Although Poker in the Park III is still four months away, Lyceum Media and Bluff Europe are getting the word out to drum up anticipation and make this year’s event the best yet.
